Haven

Haven is an exploratory project, funded by a Visual Artists and Craft Makers’ Award from Creative Scotland and East Lothian Council. I undertook this research between May and August 2024 at Morrison’s Haven, an area of beach and reclaimed land which is very close to my home in East Lothian and where I regularly scavenge for marine plastics.

Focusing my exploration on this one place and the various materials I can find there; my aims have been to gather waste and organic materials from the site and experiment with these materials. I wanted to learn more about ways to use and combine organic and other waste materials and explore how to make wearable, ornamental pieces- prototypes- that ideally could be disassembled, reassembled or returned to nature and to share what I learn.
